Professionals in health and education are responsible for providing support for hearing impaired children and their families, often with limited time and resources. It can sometimes be difficult to meet the specific needs of every child. The High Hopes Foundation offers professionals the opportunity to address issues and difficulties in confidence. High Hopes may be able to offer suggestions or resources to assist in the management of individual cases. High Hopes staff are happy to meet professionals on an individual or group basis to share information and ideas. |

The High Hopes Foundation is happy to accept referrals from professionals who feel that a particular family might benefit from additional support. Families are then offered an initial appointment to discuss their situation and determine the kind of support they feel would be of value to them. |

Cochlear implants are one of several potential management options for a profoundly hearing impaired child. The development of cochlear implant technology has had an enormous impact in the field of childhood hearing impairment. For parents, the decision whether or not to choose a cochlear implant for their child is an enormously difficult one, not least because the fitting of the device requires surgery, with all its associated risks and complications. The High Hopes Foundation can offer information and support to families and professionals at all stages of the cochlear implant process, from pre-implant assessment to post-implant habilitation. |
