About The High Hopes Foundation
|
|||
| The High Hopes Foundation is a charitable organisation which provides expert services for parents and professionals seeking guidance or help in supporting a child who is hearing impaired. The Foundation is a registered Scottish charity (Charity No. SC029774), incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. The Foundation was established in 2000 by Dr. Jo Edwards. Five directors currently sit on the board of the Foundation. Between them, they bring considerable experience as well as a breadth of skill to the work of High Hopes. | |||
| Chair | Carolyn Davidson | carolyn.davidson@highhopes.org.uk | |
| As
the mother of a child born with a profound hearing impairment, Carolyn
has a strong understanding of the needs of the parents and families of
hearing impaired children. Carolyn’s daughter, Lily, was fitted with a
cochlear implant in Manchester in 1999 and 5 years later attends a
mainstream school, has developed spoken language to a level well in
advance of her age and is also a fluent signer. However, Carolyn is all
too aware that Lily’s achievements are rare among children with her
level of hearing impairment. Having experienced first-hand the struggles
so many parents face in trying to obtain appropriate support for their
hearing impaired child, she feels strongly that other families need the
kind of information and support that the High Hopes Foundation has to
offer.
